What is Sorting?
What is “sorting”? When we receive medical supplies from local hospitals, they usually come jumbled up in boxes. Before we send the supplies to their final destination, we organize them by type so that they can be easily implemented when they arrive. We call this process “sorting.” We also inventory all of the supplies so that the receiving doctors are able to pick and choose which supplies they need most. Sorting is fun and easy and makes a huge difference!

First timer? Don’t worry! No experience is required. We manage hundreds of volunteers throughout the course of the year, and MOST of them are first-time sorters. We will show you exactly what you need to do when you come to the warehouse. Be prepared to goof around and have a bit of fun!

Where does it all go? This year, we will will sending two large shipping containers full of supplies and equipment, both to Ghana and Haiti. The Ghana shipment is being sponsored by the Ghanaian Ministry of Health, and the Haiti shipment will likely be sponsored by Partners in Health. As usual, we also plan to send smaller shipments of supplies along with other student initiatives (namely, alternative spring break groups).
