United 2 Heal is a student-run humanitarian aid organization at the University of Michigan. Our volunteer-based program works to forward surplus medical supplies to countries in need around the world. In April 09, our interfaith group of volunteers joined forces to send our second shipment worth over $1 million to Tamale, Ghana.

But the mission doesn’t stop there! Looking forward, we plan to send a comparable sized container to a deserving region of choice every school year, while at the same time developing a sustainable relationship with the people of Ghana.

We were formerly know as Children of Abraham (COA). Please read more about the name change.

Upcoming projects:

1. We will be sending a 20′ container filled with medical supplies and equipment to Haiti in February (in collaboration with Partners in Health).

2. We will be sending a 40′ container filled with hospital beds and medical supplies to Tamale, Ghana in March.

This container will add to our continuing ”Project Ghana,” for which we also hope to initiate an exchange program to receive personal feedback from the people receiving the supplies. In doing so, we hope to develop a sustainable relationship with the people of Ghana, and continue to help them develop a self-sustained health care system. Read more about Project Ghana.

Successful Projects:

Our goal is to send one 40′ shipping container full of medical supplies and equipment per year. So far, we are 2 for 2! Every year, we also send out several smaller shipments of supplies, typically to assist other student groups. We have sent supplies to each of the following countries:

• Ghana (40′)
• Tanzania (40′)
• Cuba
• Guatemala
• Jamaica
• Peru
• Iraq

Simple Process:

1. We collect surplus medical supplies from local hospitals.
2. We sort the supplies in The Warehouse.
3. We send the supplies to hospitals in need around the world
