In order to function, U2H relies on the generous contributions of our community at large. We receive some funding from the University of Michigan, but we rely mostly on fund raising for our operational expenses. If you’re ready to support the cause, please click the link below. To learn more, please read the following Q&A.

Q: Where will your money go?

A: Literally 100% of your donation will go directly towards U2H activities. This includes:

  • Advertising costs
  • Warehouse rent
  • Packaging supplies (tape, cardboard boxes, etc.)
  • Larger fund raising events (like benefit dinners)
  • Truck rentals (to transfer supplies to the warehouse)
  • Future shipping costs

Q: Are online donations secured by PayPal?

Loading the Tanzania Container (7/17/08)

A: Absolutely! To ensure a completely safe transaction, all online donations are secured through PayPal. It’s quick, safe, and easy! If you don’t believe us, click the link and see for yourself …

Q: How much does it cost to send a shipment?

A: Shipping costs vary greatly depending on the destination, size of container, etc. In general, it costs about $7,000-$10,000 to ship a 40′ container of supplies across the world. That’s a lot of money for a student-run nonprofit to raise! We do our best to partner with other programs that are able to sponsor our shipments and pay for the shipping costs, but this is not always possible.

Q: Is it worth all of the time and money?

A: YES! So far, we’ve loaded each of our shipments with nearly $1 million worth of medical equipment and supplies. That’s right, it costs us roughly $8,000 to send $1 million worth of donated supplies. You do the math!
