Joey Update #1
Hello from Tamale!
The supplies are in the hospital and being used. The first supplies used were many of the different surgical tools we used. They were used in addition to some of the beds we sent in a Cleft Palate clinic that was set up by some visiting European doctors. So I went around with the PR Officer today and he showed me all of the places where the supplies are being used. You can see in one of the pictures that there are a few of our beds and a lot of the supplies in a room. That was all moved up to where they have built a a brand new addition to the hospital that includes three new departments and is set to open at the end of March/early April, so those of you that are considering summer trip may have the chance to see it in action.
Basically what happens is that each of the wards comes to him and tells them what they need and he has people go get it from the storage rooms. Some of the supplies is still on the container as you can see in one of the other pictures. I also have copies of his copy of our inventory, which he keeps track of what been taken and is in use on the wards and what is still available. I also have a copy of the cleft palate article.
He said that the way we pack the container is fine for them as that is how most people send, but it could be improved by sectioning the boxes by department so that the staffs don’t have to do that, such as all solution boxes being shrink wrapped together.
Love,
Joey
